Fildebrandt calls for an emergency debate on pipeline nationalizationPublished on May 29, 2018
Edmonton – Independent-Conservative MLA Derek Fildebrandt will request an emergency debate be held in the Legislature tomorrow to debate the details of Alberta’s support for the Trans Mountain pipeline. The Government of Alberta has agreed to provide up to 2 billion dollars of tax payers dollars to cover unforeseen costs to the Government of Canada if the pipeline is successfully built.
“Instead of telling Ottawa to do their jobs to enforce the constitution and the rule of law, Alberta is going to pay the federal government to do its job.”
"Both levels governments have decided to expose the taxpayers of Canada to billions of dollars of unnecessary financial risk. There has never been an investor problem. This has always been a government problem, a problem that is costing Canadians billions of dollars”
